Dabrye & J Dilla - Game Over (Instrumental): I’m just going through some Dilla instrumentals in my iTunes, and I see you. I love both. I’m a bit obtuse when it comes to figuring out the easiest samples but I get quite excited when I do. The edIT edit of this track “The Game Is Not Over” is a fun listen as well. FlyLo remix is good, Dorian Concept’s take is best.

Yotam Avni - Jay Dilla’s Dream WE MUST BE IN ♥. Not only is the proficient producer from Tel-Aviv, Yotam Avni, responsible for the gem that is “Coke Bouquet”, a track that would undoubtedly be high up in my top ten of last year would I ever make one. No, there’s a lot more to the young producer. It’s a given that not many other producers and/or rappers have used a J.Dilla (RIP) sample in such a tasteful way as he did for his track “Jay Dilla’s Dream”. He sampled the vocals of Pharoahe Monch (more on him soon) as featured on Dee’s track Love, and the outcome is nothing short of amazing. Baby making music indeed.
Typhoon - Los Zand Probably one of my favourite Dutch hip-hop tunes ever, not only for the great Dour 2008 memories but the lyrics are truly on point as are the beats. Hyphy.
David Lynch - I Know (Skream’s Not So Ravey Remix) Hex trax. This one quite caught me by surprise! I’m not a fan of David Lynch’s musical side-projects at all but Skream, son, what have you done? Not here to badmouth his recent output either because I don’t hate it at all, but this is definitely one of his better recent tracks. If not one of his best tracks ever. Wow.
TEARS FALLING AS I FALL DOWN IN A SLOW CIRCLE AND DIE
Objekt - Tinderbox The minute I got my hands on “Tinderbox” by Berliner producer Objekt, it was on repeat for a couple of hours straight. Unbelievable track, most definitely one of my tracks of the year already. “The Goose That Got Away” is recommended too. Buy here.
